PAPERCRAFT!!!

So I recently invested in a beautiful book called 'Paper Craft', an amazing source of paper related art and graphic design...here are some of my favourites:

Brian Dettmer

I watched an interview about his work, and he is so intelligent. He uses books and glues them together, painstakingly cutting away old pages of history and science, re-looking at how we disregard books for the internet and reinventing our idea of them. I've just found out he has an exhibition in NY, so I'm definitely going to have a look.

Bovey Lee

Everything I inspire to be. Intricate, delicate and beautiful.

Julien Vallee

A young graphic designer who is going against the grain of computer aided design methods of usual graphic design and mixing in contemporary colorful cut out sculpted paper to create really interesting typography and images.

Bauhaus- art forms and dance

During a trip to Berlin, i went to a exhibition on Bauhaus which showcase different disciplines of art and design that they were not know for. The school encouraged its students to experiment with photography alongside their own specialism,to be involved with dance installations and costumes. All the work was still new and fresh - still relevant today as it was went they produced their work.

Brian Wildsmith - Children s Illustrator

I came across Wildsmith work at the tate shop as i was look at childrens books. I was completely inspired by his sense of colour.
Not a single spot of black. Gorgeous.

John Piper prints

An exhibition of John Piper prints in a tiny gallery in Uppingham made me want to buy them all. Amazing colours and layered textures; exactly the effects I want to use in my MA work this year. So beautiful......
